In order to fix the vtx range of the TH3 Freestyle, you need to plug it into your computer and go to the VTX tab in Betaflight. There, you need to change the 3rd vtx level from 23/200 to 26/400. The VTX can run 400mw at 26db, but it cannot run 200mw at 23db. The factory firmware settings are incorrect. To clarify, change the 3rd power level to 26 (from 23), and change the label to 400 (from 200).

I started off with thinyhawk3 racing drone. This freestyle version is a fantastic upgrade with much better performance, especially using the double batteries.
I was disappointed with the range of the vtx, i couldnt fly around the perimeter of my house from the back yard without losing signal, and the range overall left more to be desired.
I ended up upgrading the antenna (easy pop on, pop off) with a Lumenier AXII 2 U.FL 5.8GHz Antenna - Extended Wire (RHCP). I have a matching antenna on my goggles. This more than doubled - nearly tripled- the range.
Its ability to do rolls, flips, and whatever tricks you want is good practice prepping for a larger drone. I do feel it could use a little more punch, its definitely quick, but feels a little under powered for things like power loops or stopping itself from significant free-fall speed.
Overall, this has good enough performance to keep you from growing out of the drone too quickly and i feel its a fantastic starter to get into fpv flying.
(Note, This drone uses ELRS reciever protocol and will not work with the tinyhawk 3 race drones Frsky controller. Wont be an issue if you buy the RTF kit or have a controller with ELRS.)
